Investment Portfolio

The DISD 457(b) FICA Alternative Plan funds are invested with a Trust with the Union Bank of California. The Trust funds are managed by a Committee of DISD administrative personnel advised by a professional investment advisory firm regulated by the Securities and Exchange Commission, TCG Advisors, LP.

The Trust funds are invested in a portfolio designed to obtain the maximum return on investments while minimizing investment risk. Beginning in 2005 when funds are deposited in the Trust, the investments will consist of fourteen mutual funds and similar investments. These offer high quality investments, very low fees by industry standards and all have consistently out-performed their “benchmarks” in the past. The initial investment portfolio will be comprised of approximately thirty percent (30.00%) fixed interest instruments and seventy percent (70.00%) equity instruments. As assets are added to the Trust the long-term goal is to purchase and hold bonds to minimize the market risk of bond mutual funds. This will allow the Trust investments to be moved toward our goal of a fifty percent (50%) mixture of fixed instruments and equity instruments.
